What Features To Look For In A Waterfowl Hunting Backpack

Have you decided to get serious about hunting waterfowl? If so, you are likely going to want a backpack to help make this form of hunting a lot easier. Here are some things to look for in a waterfowl hunting backpack.

Padded Back Panel

You should think about how the backpack is going to feel against your back as you are wearing it, since you may be wearing the backpack the entire time you are hunting. Look for a backpack that has a padded back panel that is going to give you that extra comfort you need when the weight of the backpack and everything inside is against you.

Tree Straps

Chances are that you are not going to want to wear the waterfowl hunting backpack at all times. That's why a good feature to look for are built-in tree straps. This allows you to strap the backpack tightly around a tree so that it remains elevated above the water. Having the straps built into the backpack means that you are always going to have them on you when you need them the most.

Oversized Zippers

One thing that you may not notice until after you have a waterfowl hunting backpack is how important it is to have oversized zipper pulls. You need to think of how difficult it will be to use the backpack when wearing thick gloves in cold temperatures, and that small zipper can be difficult to grip onto. This is one situation where the bigger zipper is always better.

Magnetic Pockets

While you want most of your pockets to have zippers to ensure that they stay closed, it is also a good idea to have some magnetic pockets. These will stay shut but give you easy access to frequently used items so that you are not constantly zipping and unzipping pockets.

Carabiner Hooks

You'll also want to have metal hooks that easily allow you to attach carabiners to the backpack at any time. This is going to be another way that you can quickly access things that you have taken with you without having to remove the backpack.

Flat Base

A flat base is also going to help keep the backpack upright when it is set down on the ground or in a blind. Knowing that the backpack is not going to topple over will ensure that you are quiet while hunting and allow you to quickly get things out of the backpack when necessary.
