Whatever Floats Your Boat: Pontoon Accessories To Get Excited About

Pontoons are low, flat level boats that float along on aluminum skids. They are fun to drive and sit in all day, but their appearance is somewhat, well, vanilla. If you like your pontoon, but you are less excited about it than you could be, maybe it is time to get some pontoon boat accessories. Here are a few items that will really float your boat, both literally and figuratively.

Under Deck Lights and Underwater LED Lights

Pontoons are known for being "sun boats" because of their large decks and limited lighting. Pontoons rarely go out at night. If you want to do some night swimming, night boating or night fishing off your pontoon, you are out of luck unless you upgrade with these cool neon-colored under deck lights and underwater LED lights. They install rather quickly and easily, and then your pontoon can be seen gliding over the water at night, almost ghostly. It is an effect you will need to see, but one that can be very exciting.

Towable Swim Rafts and Tubes

Sometimes the fun of a pontoon is not on the pontoon itself. Sometimes it is on the towable swim raft or inner tubes behind the pontoon. Guests who do not fit on the boat can lay on the swim raft or in an inner tube and get towed along with the use of tow lines and pontoon boat anchors. The kids especially love spending a day jumping off the raft and swimming and then being towed out to the water and back in to land again.

Solar Powered Vent Fan

When it is time to cover up the pontoon, the biggest problem is the heat that collects under the cover and inside the boat. When you uncover the pontoon to use it again, you have to let it air out and cool down a bit before launching. You can bypass the wait by using solar-powered vent fans, which fit inside a special tarp and use the sun's rays to cool and ventilate the pontoon while the cover is on. Then your boat is less uncomfortable and ready sooner when you want to use it in the summer.

Floating Deck Boxes and Life Vest Boxes

You cannot go on any boat without your deck boxes and your box of life vests. Luckily, there are now deck boxes that float as well as life vest boxes that float. In the event that something happens to the boat, these items would stay afloat and give you access to life saving supplies inside them.
